Implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) is a battery-powered device placed under the skin that keeps track of your heart rate. Many models can also pace your heart to prevent it from being too slow. ICDs to have a role in preventing cardiac arrest in patients with life threatening arrhythmias or patients with a high-risk of having a life-threatening arrhythmias. ICDs can improve the quality of life and extend life. They are implanted by our board certified cardiac electrophysiologists.
